Pian delle Vette: Indomitable Spirits in the Mountains

At the foot of the Dolomites, a dream comes true

There come moments in life when the heart takes precedence over rationality. For Walter, Egidio, and Alessandro, that moment coincided with the reawakening of a shared dream, one that had been locked away for too long. Thus was born Pian delle Vette, a small winery at the foot of the Vette Feltrine, 600 meters above sea level, at the entrance to the Belluno Dolomites National Park.

A courageous, almost irrational choice, driven by a love for the land and a desire to give voice to an authentic territory, far from standardization and shortcuts. Three distinct personalities, three paths that converge and give rise to a shared project: that of the "Mat di Pian delle Vette," as they like to call themselves.

The 3 hectares of vineyards are managed according to sustainable practices: the use of chemical treatments is limited, natural resources such as shredding and mowing are exploited to enrich the soil, and a deliberately low yield is maintained to enhance the expressiveness of the grapes.

The harvest is manual, with careful selection of the grapes already in the vineyard, to reduce intervention in the cellar and limit the addition of sulfites. The goal is clear: to produce wines that respect and reflect nature, without forcing them.

At Pian delle Vette, wine is the fruit of rigorous thinking, a slow and respectful approach. The rhythms are those of the mountains, marked by the bells of the nearby villages and the breath of the forest. The environmental conditions, both evocative and harsh, shape the character of the grapes: the cold nights, the poor soils, the temperature variations, the biodiversity of the Park... everything contributes to creating wines with strong personalities, which express the harmony of the landscape and the tranquility of their places of origin.

Pian delle Vette has chosen a human-scale approach, allowing for direct control over every stage of the process. Every decision stems from a constant dialogue with the local community. Here, we don't chase trends, but work to preserve and enhance a cultural, agricultural, and landscape heritage.

The resulting wines are authentic, recognizable, and unique. And, like the three Mats who produce them, they are the product of a vision that had the courage to follow its heart.
